Ceredigion has recorded no new cases of coronavirus today.

The latest coronavirus figures released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales show that Ceredigion is the only county in Wales not to record a single new case of Covid-19 on Monday.

Numbers in the county have been falling in recent weeks and Ceredigion also recorded no new cases on 29 January.

The weekend saw three cases recorded in the county on Saturday and four on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Gwynedd recorded 11 new cases today, while Powys recorded 24.

Carmarthenshire recorded 17 new cases and Pembrokeshire 22 cases.

16 deaths have been recorded across Wales today, taking the total to 5,137 since the pandemic began nearly a year ago.

Total number of deaths registered across Wales with Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate takes that figure to 6,682 with 1,096 in the Betsi Cadwaladr region of North Wales and 571 deaths in the Hywel Dda region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

201 deaths have been recorded in the Powys Teaching Health Board region with 20 of those coming in the week up to 6 February.

This has led to a warning to Powys residents that Covid-19 remains a constant threat despite success in rolling out the vaccine in the county.

Speaking on the 20 new Covid-19 related deaths, Powys County Council leader Cllr Rosemarie Harris said: “The tragic milestone is a reminder that this dreadful virus is still a danger to everyone, and we must maintain our vigilance and follow national restrictions.

"We must not forget that every case is a tragedy for a Powys household and must do all that we can to stop the spread to this terrible virus.

“The successful roll-out of the vaccine programme is good news for everyone but it cannot solve the problem alone, it is essential that residents follow national restrictions, we cannot risk another deadly wave of the virus.”

Wales is still currently in Alert Level 4 lockdown with a review of the rules due later this week from the Welsh Government.
