Over 20 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Gwynedd today – with half a dozen reported in Ceredigion.

543 new cases have been recorded in Wales today, according to the latest figures released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales.

One new death has also been recorded, taking the total number of suspected Covid-19 fatalities to 5,630 since the start of the pandemic.

Ceredigion has recorded six new cases today along with neighbouring Pembrokeshire.

23 cases have been recorded in Gwynedd, with Carmarthenshire recording 25 and Powys recording 26.

Ceredigion County Council has repeated its warnings over the spread of coronavirus today, saying alert level zero does not mean zero measures.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Our public protection team will continue to monitor premises’ compliance with the coronavirus restrictions regulations.

“Advice will be provided where businesses are found to be in breach of the requirements, and enforcement action may still be taken when it is necessary to do so.

“As the summer holiday continues, a high number of visitors are enjoying our town centres.

“The safe zones still have an important role to play in helping people keep a social distance.”
