Three new Covid-related deaths have been reported in the latest figures released by Public Health Wales this lunchtime.

The figures announced today take into account data for the 24-hour period up to 9am on Friday after Public Health Wales switched to a six-day reporting period.

The total number of deaths in the country since the start of the pandemic now stands at 5,546, while 62 new cases were recorded, taking the overall tally to 211,224.

In Ceredigion, one new case was reported, and the seven-day rolling total (for 13 to 19 April) is five, resulting in a rate of 6.9 cases per 100,000 population.

Elsewhere in the Hywel Dda Health Board region, Carmarthenshire has reported six new cases, but there were none in Pembrokeshire.

The rolling seven-day total in Carmarthenshire is 14, and just three in Pembrokeshire. In Powys, three new cases were reported today.

Gwynedd has recorded just one new case. Its rolling seven-day total is 35, resulting in a rate of 28.1 cases per 100,000 population – the highest in Wales.

According to Public Health Wales, 1,768,585 people in Wales have received a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and 687,049 have also had their second dose.

As of the week ending 18 April, 275,652 vaccines had been administered by Hywel Dda Health Board, 118,965 by Powys Teaching Health Board, and 524,975 by Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board which covers Gwynedd.
