OVER 1,000 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Wales today with two new deaths linked to the virus.
1,090 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the latest figures, released this lunch time by Public Health Wales.
Ceredigion has recorded 16 new cases with 30 in Carmarthenshire and 59 in Pembrokeshire.
Powys has recorded 48 cases and 28 new cases have been recorded in Gwynedd.
Two new deaths have been recorded today taking the total number of deaths to 5,634 since the start of the pandemic.
Ceredigion County Council has issued a warning over a cluster of cases identified in and around New Quay and Llanarth, which is causing concern.
A council spokesperson said: “Over the last few days, a number of cases have been identified in the area which is causing concern, and anyone with symptoms is encouraged to take a test.
“A multi-agency incident management team is monitoring the situation. “Additional testing has been made available in the area and people can book a test through the UK portal.”
It is advised that you get your test within five days if you have any of the following symptoms:
• A new continuous cough
• A high temperature
• Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
To help identify hidden Covid-19 cases in our communities as new variants of the virus emerge, Hywel Dda University Health Board is also encouraging you to have a test if you have any of the following symptoms and they are new, persistent and/or unusual for you:
• Mild summer cold symptoms, including sore throat, runny nose, headache.
• Flu-like symptoms, including myalgia (muscle ache or pain); excessive tiredness; persistent headache; runny nose or blocked nose; persistent sneezing; sore throat and/or hoarseness, shortness of breath or wheezing; nausea; vomiting; or diarrhoea.
• Generally feeling unwell and a history of being in contact with a known Covid-19 case.
• Any new or change in symptoms following a previous negative test.
You must self-isolate immediately for 10 days if you have any of the above symptoms and book a PCR test.
Even if you’ve been double-vaccinated, remember to wash your hands regularly, wear a face mask where needed and keep a social distance from others in order to keep everyone safe.
