AN Aberystwyth woman has accused authorities of “emotionally blackmailing” her and putting pressure on her to move her 98-year-old sick mother from a care home.
Hotelier Llinos James said she was being put under immense stress after it emerged that nursing care would end at the Hafan y Waun home by the end of March.
She said she was being “pressured” by authorities to move her mother, Irene Mary Evans, out of the home, despite her concerns over the impact it could have on her mother.
Mrs Evans suffered a stroke on New Year’s Eve, but a decision was taken not to put her through a scan at Bronglais Hospital as it could cause her distress.
However, now authorities are saying they want her to move the nonagenarian to another home – Plas Cwmcynfelin at Clarach.
Ms James, who runs the Castle Hotel in South Road, said: “They said they could take her for a scan to Bronglais Hospital, but didn’t want to put her through that stress. Two weeks later I get the news that they want us to move her.
“I’m extremely distressed. They’re putting pressure on me to move her. I feel like I’m being emotionally blackmailed."
