TENDERS from companies bidding to take over Aberystwyth’s Bodlondeb care home must be submitted by 3 March.
Ceredigion County Council’s social services department wants the home to be run as a dedicated facility for Elderly Mentally Infirm patients with a deal on funding beds struck between the council and Hywel Dda Health Board already agreed.
To provide specialist dementia nursing care, the home needs to be run by a private operator with the council currently out to tender for bids from interested companies.
Social services strategic director Sue Darnbrook has said in a response to local councillor Lorrae Jones-Southgate that she expects Cabinet members to discuss the home at a meeting on 14 March.
Cllr Jones-Southgate had called for information to be made public and for Ms Darnbrook to meet with residents, families and staff members to provide an update.
She said: “These are desperately needed services to ensure our local and elderly residents are well cared for, to which we at Ceredigion council have a duty of care to the many vulnerable in our communities.
"Sue Darnbrook is working relentlessly to ensure the best outcome for Bodlondeb which I fully appreciate and respect, and I invite the strategic director to visit Bodlondeb to meet again with the residents, their families and staff to again update the current position and the options for the future of Bodlondeb residential home.”
