DELAYS in admitting patients into Bronglais Hospital when arriving in an ambulance have not been as badly affected by ‘winter pressures’ as in previous years, it has been claimed.
Figures for the period between 21 and 27 December showed that the vast majority of the 107 patients were admitted within 15 minutes with 86 in total waiting less than 15 minutes.
A further 17 patients waited between 15 and 30 minutes, with two patients waiting between 30 minutes and 45 minutes.
One patient had to wait between 45 minutes and an hour, with one other waiting between an hour and two hours to be admitted.
Paul Hinge, the chair of Hywel Dda Community Health Council, said that while the figures in Ceredigion and across Hywel Dda were better than those in some more urban areas, there were still concerns that some patients were having to wait hours before being admitted to hospital.
He said: “It is worrying that we’re seeing, albeit small numbers, one or two people waiting one or two hours for handover.”
