Staff at a care home in Aberystwyth have spoken of their “delight” after residents received their first round of Covid-19 vaccinations.

Dr Gail Davies and her team from Ystwyth Surgery, visited Hafan y Waun in Waunfawr on Wednesday, 20 January to administer the vaccine to residents and staff.

All residents have now received the first dose of the vaccine and only a “number” of staff, who were not on duty during the vaccination session, are left to receive theirs.

General manager at Hafan y Waun, Mandy Pilcher said: “We are delighted to have been visited by Dr Gail Davies and the team from Ystwyth Surgery for our vaccinations.

“These are giving us hope for the future and that soon we will be able to have more meaningful visits for our family and friends.

“Residents have received their vaccinations during the visit but as not all staff were on duty, a number are still to receive theirs.

“We are pleased there is now a vaccination centre in Aberystwyth which will make it easier for staff to access.

“We would like to thank the community for its continued support through these difficult times.”
