FEARS have been raised over the future of GP services in Porthmadog.
The Meddyg Care health centre in the town is set to close at the end of September.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has already confirmed it will take over management of the facility from 1 October.
But there are fears if this is not a success the surgery could be lost, leaving 4,500 patients looking for a new doctor and with a devastating knock-on effect for neighbouring services, such as those at Criccieth or Penrhyndeudraeth.
Dr Melfyn Edwards, who lives in Porthmadog but is a GP in Criccieth and Pwllheli, is worried about the future.
“I have concerns about the surgery in Porthmadog and how the health board is approaching the situation,” he told the Cambrian News.
