BETSI Cadwaladr’s chief executive has reassured foreign employees that they will be supported whether “they are from Mold, Macedonia, Manchester or Mumbai” and that any form of racism will not be tolerated.
Following the UK’s recent vote to leave the European Union, Gary Doherty has made clear how much Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) values all members of their staff, regardless of their country of origin.
He said: “We woke on Friday 24 June to the news that the UK had voted to leave the European Union.
“Like the rest of the NHS, BCUHB has much valued European staff working in our hospitals and in our communities.
“We wish to take this opportunity to emphasise to all our colleagues from the European nations that you are a key part of our BCUHB family and we very much appreciate your hard work and professionalism and the care you provide for our patients.
“We also appreciate that this may be an unsettling time for some of you, and would like to remind you that BCUHB has an Employee Wellbeing service if you feel you’d like some support.”
