Members of a motor club have enabled Bronglais Hospital to buy vital equipment.

Thanks to a donation from Aberystwyth and District Motor Club, the hospital’s radiology department has purchased an Accuvein Vein Viewing System.

With a click of a button this new piece of equipment will show where even the tiniest of veins are, making cannulation easier.

This is essential for rapid IV access during trauma, sepsis, DKA, cardiac arrest and other life threatening emergencies.

It is also of great help when treating paediatric and chemotherapy patients

Mark Sherratt, lead radiographer at Bronglais Hospital, said: “This new piece of equipment has made a huge difference to staff and patients.

“It’s user-friendly, saves valuable time which can be crucial in an emergency and it also diminishes patient distress.”
