HYWEL Dda Health Charities has launched its Christmas Give a Gift Appeal, with the board’s chemotherapy day units chosen to benefit from the appeal.

The appeal was launched on Monday, 12 November, and encourages members of the public to buy a gift from an Amazon wish list that will be donated to patients at the chemotherapy day units, including at Bronglais Hospital.

The list of items have been selected by the specialist nursing teams to provide items that will be of most benefit to patients both during and after their treatment and include items like warm beanie hats, bandanas, caps, hand and body creams, warm socks and gloves.

Rhian Jones, the lead chemotherapy nurse specialist, said: “We are grateful to be chosen for this year’s Give a Gift campaign.

“This is a great opportunity for us to be able to source items that will help alleviate and control the side effects of chemotherapy and will greatly help our patients’ comfort. Thank you.”

Sarah Jennings, the health board’s director of partnerships and corporate services, said: “We are delighted to launch our Give a Gift appeal for the third year running with the aim of making Christmas extra special for our chemotherapy day unit patients.

“Each gift purchased will provide comfort to our patients during their treatment.”

All gifts received will be distributed at the chemotherapy day units at Bronglais in Aberystwyth, Glangwili in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush in Haverfordwest.

The list can be found at amazon.co.uk by searching for Hywel Dda on the Your Lists tab, or at www.amzn.to/2CD7P9S.
