HEALTH chiefs are hoping to recoup £140,000 from the sale of a health centre and clinic in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has placed the former physiotherapy clinic at Towyn Road in Blaenau Ffestiniog and the health centre on Wynne Road on the market, with asking prices of £60,000 and £80,000 respectively.
Both were closed to make way for the town’s new integrated health centre, which opened its doors in November 2017.
The £3.9m Canolfan Goffa Ffestiniog provides a dementia day service, palliative care, audiology clinic and learning disabilities service.
But despite protestations from the local community, it contains no inpatient beds, despite the former hospital having 12 beds.
As a result, any patients needing to stay overnight are now accommodated 13 miles away at Ysbyty Alltwen near Porthmadog, which will celebrate its 10th birthday this year.
The original memorial hospital was built in 1925 by contributions from local quarrymen, to remember those who died during the First World War.
According to the estate agent’s website, it’s considered that both buildings have “scope for development” although any substantial change of use would require planning permission from Gwynedd Council.
