The family of “amazing dad” and former Urdd magazine editor Ieuan Griffith have handed over a thank-you cheque for £335 to Dyfi Ward at Bronglais Hospital raised through donations in lieu of flowers.
Mr Griffith, of Capel Bangor, who died on 12 February aged 87, left his wife Glenys; two children, Elfyn and Carwen; and three grandchildren who he adored - Iwan, Dylan, and Ffion.
Carwen said: “He was cared for by this wonderful team for two weeks leading up to his death, transferred to Y Banwy ward for a few days then I had him home with us to die in his own home with all of us around him.
“He was editor of the Urdd’s children’s magazines for over 25 years, after teaching in secondary schools in Birmingham, Rhondda and Llandrindod Wells previously.
“After leaving the Urdd he went self-employed as a translator and also adapted many books from English to Welsh.”
