An ‘outstanding’ housekeeper from Ysbyty Gwynedd has been recognised with a special award.

Amanda Owen, who works on Glyder Ward, was nominated for a Seren Betsi Star award by her colleague for going above and beyond in her role.

Amanda is an important part of the team and has helped raise thousands of pounds towards purchasing new touch screen blood pressure monitors.

Glyder Ward Sister, Ceri Owen, who nominated Amanda for the award, said: “Amanda is reliable and extremely hardworking.

“She has worked extremely hard to improve the ward environment and has worked closely with the Safe Clean Care team to achieve the high standards she sets.

“She has been instrumental in raising thousands of pounds for the ward in fundraising through tombolas and raffles and grants through community schemes.

“Her most recent application for a grant saw the ward receive £4,000 from Tesco to purchase new touch screen blood pressure monitors.”

The Seren Betsi Star Award recognises the hard work and dedication of north Wales NHS staff and volunteers.

Amanda said: “I’m so shocked and honoured to receive this award, I wasn’t expecting it and I feel very overwhelmed.

“Everything I do in my role is for the benefit of the patients and I always put the patients first.”
