Major redevelopment of Machynlleth’s Bro Ddyfi Hospital is a step nearer after access approval from the Welsh Government

The redevelopment of the hospital has been hailed as an exciting one which will help improve healthcare services in the Dyfi Valley, but progress had stalled after Powys Teaching Health Board lodged the planning application late last year because the Welsh Government wanted more information about highways issues. But now the Welsh Government has agreed the plan, subject to planning.

A spokesman said: “We have been working closely with the applicant and design team responsible for the redevelopment of Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital.

“We have received their proposed access arrangement and Traffic Management Plan, which have been agreed.

“Subject to planning approval, the contractors are able to start work on the project as soon as their schedule allows.”

Previously, a spokesperson for the health board said things had not moved on since the end of last year when information was provided to stakeholders about the delay.
