YSBYTY Gwynedd’s Tryfan ward is enjoying some much-needed refurbishment following a £125,000 investment.

The improvements are being welcomed by patients and staff who say it has made the environment more welcoming.

These improvements include new flooring and state-of-the-art electronic sinks which are non-touch and can read the temperature of the water.

The walls have also been freshly-painted in brighter and lighter colours, and new dimmer lights have been installed at patients’ beds.

The refurbishment is part of efforts to help stop the spread of potential infections, whilst making a real difference to patients’ experience during their stay in hospital.

Ward sister Joanne Roche said: “It doesn’t feel like a typical hospital ward, it’s much more homely. Patients think it’s lovely. Some of them have said it’s like being a private patient. They really like the floor! And the walls!”

The new-look Tryfan has also made a real difference to the staff, with a bespoke nurses’ station, new storage space and a purpose-built staff room for training and breaks.
