NEW life-saving equipment has been installed outside a prominent Bala hotel.

Last week, dozens of health conscious residents headed to the White Lion Royal Hotel for a presentation about the use and benefits of a new defibrillator.

The evening was arranged by Bala and Penllyn Rotary Club and a comprehensive training session was conducted by Anthony Hamilton-Shay, one of the founders of Cariad Wales, a charity which works to raise the necessary funding to provide local schools and communities with defibrillators and life-saving training.

The charity was set up in south Wales in 2012 due to the alarming statistic that 8,000 people will suffer a cardiac arrest outside of the hospital environment every year in Wales.

The local rotary club has recently worked hard to purchase a defibrillator which is now prominently mounted on the wall outside the White Lion Royal Hotel.
