The planned new multi-million-pound health hub for Tregaron has taken an “important” step forward.

A contractor has been appointed to design the resource centre which will bring together a range of health and housing services under one roof.

Welsh Government funding has allowed Cylch Caron partners to appoint Llanelli-based construction company WRW as the contractor for the project.

Julie James AM, minister for housing and local government, said: “I am pleased to be able to announce this important step in the development of the new Cylch Caron Centre in Tregaron, which will bring important services under one roof, closer to the people who need them.”

The new building will provide health and social care services; together with specialist housing for people who have care needs in Tregaron and the surrounding rural areas.

Jon Williams, managing director at WRW Construction, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Mid Wales Housing Association, in partnership with Ceredigion Council and Hywel Dda University Health Board to deliver such an integral healthcare scheme for the local people of Tregaron and the surrounding area.

“The project will consist of a GP surgery, pharmacy, six flexible health and social care units, 34 flats, facilities for long-term care, day-care and outpatient clinics.

“Once complete, Cylch Caron will be a high-quality, state-of-the-art Integrated Resource Centre and will be a fantastic addition to Ceredigion. We look forward to working with our local supply chain partners to provide employment and training opportunities throughout the project.”
