TREGARON’S joint health and social care scheme has moved a step closer after Ceredigion council and Hywel Dda health board approved a delivery partner for the project.
Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet will be asked to sign off on the new, as yet unknown, partner to delivery the long-awaited Cylch Caron project.
The Cylch Caron scheme has won praise, including from the Welsh Government, as an innovative way of providing both health and care services and will see health and care facilities alongside sheltered housing.
While the scheme has been on the drawing board for a number of years, the purchase of land last year and the move to put work out to tender has resulted in the project finally becoming a reality.
Ceredigion County Council and Hywel Dda Health Board think the scheme could be “the first of several phases of new provision of housing and services for older people and other people with care needs in Tregaron”, and it is likely the winning delivery partner tender for the £6m project included plans to redevelop existing buildings.
