A NEW defibrillator has been unveiled at Llanidloes and will be kept at the Woosnam & Davies newsagent in Longbridge Street.

The defibrillator, which was purchased thanks to a community grant, will be available at the shop during opening hours for emergencies. Trudy Davies, of Woosnam & Davies, said: “We want people to know it’s here.

“We got it through a community grant through Keith Foster of Powys Safety Solutions. I said I’d gladly keep it here as it’s important to have it.”

Training is not needed to use the defibrillator as it provides step-by-step instructions.

A host of fundraising activities were held in Llanidloes to help raise cash to buy a defibrillator, including a giant Easter egg which was raffled by the Woosnam & Davies shop in March.

Llanidloes Town Council had agreed to donate toward a fund to buy defibrillators for the town after receiving a presentation on how modern defibrillators can provide step-by-step instructions to help save lives.
