NEW life-saving equipment is on its way to Corris.
The village’s community council have announced that it has been able to provide three defibrillators in the Corris area with financial aid from the British Heart Foundation.
The medical devices, which can be used in the event of a cardiac emergency, will be located in the Institute in Corris, the old public conveniences at Corris Uchaf and Pantperthog Village Hall.
The machines have been heralded for their ability to save lives whilst in the hands of a trained volunteer.
In rural areas such as Corris, the volunteers will potentially be on the scene long before the Welsh Ambulance Service giving the patient a much better chance of survival.
The local defibrillator service is activated by calls to the ambulance service so members of the public still need to call 999 whenever they are faced with a medical emergency.
Corris Community Council has offered its thanks to everybody who helped in providing this scheme.
Training sessions are now being organised for those who have volunteered to use the machines.
On Thursday, 5 November, at 7pm, the council will be conducting a discussion about the use and provision of the defibrillators. Everyone is welcome.
