Ysbyty Alltwen’s Minor Injury Unit in Tremadog will remain open 24 hours a day until March next year to ensure the community can access non-urgent care.
The unscheduled care hub at Ysbyty Alltwen has been in place at the unit since February 2019.
The unit offers a 24-hour service with support from the GP Out of Hours Service and the District Nursing team.
Rhona Jones, Matron at Ysbyty Alltwen, has welcomed the extension at the unit.
She said: “We are really pleased that we are able to extend this service for our community and our visitors to the area.
“During June this year we were the busiest Minor Injury Unit in Gwynedd and Anglesey with over 600 patients presenting at the hospital.
“Having the Minor Injury Unit open 24 hours day has proven to be very beneficial and is a great example of multidisciplinary working with other members of staff such as the GP Out of Hours and District Nurses.
“We have been working closely with the Wales Ambulance Service to utilise the hub so that patients don’t always need to go to Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Emergency Department.
“The reaction from the community to this service has been really positive. All minor injuries and illnesses can be seen and treated by us here so we are very pleased to be able to extend this 24-hour service so our community can be seen closer to their home.”
