A BALA nurse is “absolutely honoured” to be recognised as a ‘Heart Hero’ at a prestigious national awards presentation.
Staff nurse Anne Thomas, who works at Dolgellau Hospital, has won the prestigious British Heart Foundation Cymru’s Heart Hero Innovation Award at a ceremony in Cardiff recently.
The Heart Hero Innovation Award is presented to the person who has demonstrated drive and commitment to bring about innovation and improvements to fight heart disease in Wales.
Anne, from Bala, has been a nurse for 35 years and currently works in the Outpatient Department at Dolgellau Hospital.
Anne said: “I’m absolutely honoured to receive this award.
“I’ve spent many years supporting patients who are rurally isolated and lacking confidence to find health and lifestyle information to make positive changes to improve their health.”
Ruth Coombs, head of BHF Cymru, said: “We are delighted that Anne Thomas, who was nominated by her own colleagues, won this award and we warmly congratulate her on this achievement.”
