A district nurse has been recognised for her dedication to nursing with a prestigious award.
Llio Griffiths, who works as a district nurse caseload holder between Ardudwy, Penrhyndeudraeth and Eifionydd has received The Queen’s Nursing Institute’s Philip Goodeve-Docker Memorial Prize for Outstanding Achievement as a district nursing student.
The award was created in memory of Phillip Goodeve-Docker who sadly died in 2013 whilst undertaking a fundraising event crossing the Greenland ice sheet to raise funds for the Queen’s Nursing Institute charity.
Llio received her certificate and cheque for £50 at Wrexham Glyndwr University graduation ceremony.
Alison Williams, programme leader for Community Specialist Practice (District Nursing) at Wrexham Glyndwr University, who nominated Llio for the award, said: “Llio gained an excellent mark overall and achieved the Graduate Diploma in Community Specialist Practice (District Nursing) with Distinction.
“Llio has worked tirelessly on developing a computerised shared drive that is accessible by local community nursing teams to share pertinent information between the teams.
“This has been widely praised within her local area and is essential as the area covered is particularly rural so enables quick access to information.
“Since completing the programme Llio has continued to improve practice and has recently had a poster accepted for the QNI conference.
“Her innovative thinking is exactly what is required in a district nurse today and I feel that Llio will make an outstanding contribution to district nursing in the future.”
