BLAENPENNAL-BORN Dai Harris, a past president of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society, has said a big thank-you to the medical staff who gave him a new lease of life.
Mr Harris presented a cheque of £11,077.13 to the Cardiac Unit of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Local Health Board, the amount raised during his year of office in 2015/16.
Receiving the cheque, consultant cardiologist Dr Mark Anderson remarked on the “extraordinary effort” it took to raise such an amount and promised that the money would be put to good use to develop the whole patient experience at Morriston and to ensure that cardiac patients felt supported at all times.
“The team at Morriston gave me my life back in 2001 and I wanted to give something back to the people who gave me the opportunity to be the president of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society,” said Mr Harris.
The money was raised through four members of the society, including Mr Harris, losing weight and raising a pound for each pound lost.
