A Comins Coch woman has said she has been “overwhelmed” by the support she has received as her latest fundraising drive for local health charities has seen her reach a mammoth total of more than £20,000 raised in the past five years.

After raising money for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Bronglais Hospital while losing six stone in weight earlier this year, hairdresser Nia Gore turned her attention to another fundraiser – a tractor run, which was held on 3 October.

Nia, who has held several events including a 5k run which raised £1,425 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit, and a similar amount for Blood Bikes Aberystwyth.

The tractor run, which started and finished at Aberystwyth Mart in Lovesgrove was held in memory of Nia’s grandfather Ken Hughes, raised a total of £4,670.

The money raised means that in the last five years, Nia and her family have now raised £21,508 for good causes, though tractor runs, coffee mornings and a head shave.

Nia said she would like to thank “everyone that has supported my fundraising again this year, it’s your support that makes it possible”, and said the event was a “huge success.”

“We had 40 tractors and four 4x4s,” she said.

“We had people there from Bala, Dolgellau, Llanidloes and Newtown, as well as many locals, with a lot just popping down to donate to the fundraiser.

“Meinir Chambers, from Barclays Aberystwyth was there fund-raising on the day, and then Barclays match funded £1 for £1.

“My total for the day was £1,800, with match funding another £1,800, plus I had £1,000 that we won on S4C programme, Heno.

“This fundraiser brings my total fundraised for charity between 2016 and 2021 to £21,508.

“A big thank you to all the local businesses and friends for the wonderful raffle prizes, and my closest family again for helping me.

“A final thank you to everyone that supported me again this year, I’m once again totally overwhelmed with all the support.”
