PLANS to develop Tregaron’s new Cylch Caron Integrated Resource Centre have gone back to the drawing board.

The Cylch Caron Project Board have revealed that plans for a fully-integrated health, social care and housing centre in the town are having to be revised following an initial unsuccessful tendering process.

At a recent meeting members agreed to explore new tender options for design and construction of the facility to ensure that it provided the best value for money, as well as offering fit-for-purpose health and extra care facilities for future generations.

The planned facility will bring together health, housing and social services on one site and replace the existing Tregaron Community Hospital, Bryntirion residential home and GP surgery.

The scheme is being developed in partnership with Ceredigion County Council, Hywel Dda University Health Board, Mid-Wales Housing and the Welsh Government.

It will consist of a GP surgery, community pharmacy, outpatient clinics and community nursing services, as well as extra care flats and integrated health and social care units.

Cllr Catherine Hughes, Ceredigion County Council Cabinet member with responsibility for social services, and chair of the Cylch Caron Stakeholder Board, said: “As partners, we are all committed to keeping this innovative and collaborative project across health, social care and housing moving forward. We are working tirelessly behind the scenes to redevelop existing designs.”

“We acknowledge that the planning process has at times been quite protracted, however, it has been essential in terms of making sure we get it right."
