A LAMPETER couple have donated over £13,000 to local health services as a ‘thank you’ for treatment received by a well-known businessman.

Emyr Jones, of Teifi Forge, had treatment at Glangwili Hospital’s urology department and the Tenovus ManVan scheme with donations of £6,750 going to each following a special fundraising event.

Emyr and his wife Eirian hosted the event, selling over 200 tickets for the ‘Mike Doyle and Band back in Lampeter’ event, which included an auction and a raffle.

Eirian said the couple were determined to help the hospital and Tenovus scheme after the care and help Emyr received after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

She said: “Emyr was diagnosed with prostate cancer over 16 months ago and visited the clinic at the urology department in Glangwili regularly.

“He received excellent care and we were also informed about the Tenovus ManVan that visited Glangwili on a regular basis.

“We were given expert information and support that helped us decide which treatment would be best for Emyr.

“We wanted to fundraise to say thank you for the special care that we received from Glangwili and Tenovus. We had a fantastic evening and we would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the evening.”
