A CHARITABLE donation of more than £26,000 has enabled Bronglais Hospital to purchase equipment which will improve endoscopic services.

The Mid Wales Colo-Rectal Cancer Fund has been thanked for its generous donation of £26,367.61, which has enabled Bronglais Hospital to purchase a specific piece of equipment called an ERBE.

This is an “electro-surgical” instrument that allows a large variety of endoscopic treatments and therapies to be performed safely at Bronglais.

The equipment will allow certain therapies to be performed that would otherwise require patients to travel to alternative sites across the health board.

Kieran Hall, endoscopy unit manager at Bronglais, said: “Gareth Hughes is the secretary [of the Mid Wales Colo-Rectal Cancer Fund] and he worked very hard to support us with this purchase and it is important to recognise this and also raise awareness in the hope of raising further donations to the charity.”
