Two members of Llangrannog Rowing Club who recently completed the Celtic Challenge raised much-needed funds for the chemotherapy unit at Bronglais Hospital in the process.
The unit, who need £1.5m for a bigger facility, have currently raised around £1m.
Jane O’Connor, who underwent chemotherapy at the unit in 2017 and missed the Celtic Challenge that year, and Nicola Nichols-Evans, whose cousin recently received treatment, raised £1,550.
Jane said: “My love of sea rowing and the chance to compete in the world’s longest true rowing race spurred me on to get fit after chemotherapy for breast cancer.
"It was a true challenge and well worth the effort of all the training.
"My friend Nic also completed the Celtic and raised funds for the chemo unit and Cancer Care Cardigan as her cousin has recently received treatment.
“Between us we raised £1,550 for Leri Ward and were delighted to present a cheque to Dr Elin Jones, oncologist and lead nurse Rhian Preece-Jones.”
