Ceredigion’s Covid rate has risen slightly over the last seven days, the health minister said today at a Welsh Government press conference, but it remains low, at 56 cases per 100,000 of the population.

That compares favourably with the Wales average of 115 per 100,000 people.

“Overall we continue to see cases fall,” Vaughan Gething said this lunchtime, adding that The R number - the rate of transmission - is now below 1 in Wales.

But Wales hit a devastating milestone today, with 5,000 deaths with Covid now being confirmed.

Twelve people died with Covid today, taking the total to 5,001.

Mr Gething said he was deeply sorry for every life lost, and added: “This is why it’s so important we all stick with what we’re doing to drive cases down even further.”
