STAFF at the Tesco superstore in Aberystwyth have donated 20 televisions to Bronglais Hospital.

Ceredig Ward, the hospital’s trauma and orthopaedic ward, wrote to Tesco to request help, saying the televisions would be a “great help to the mental wellbeing” of the patients, which include dementia and Alzheimer’s sufferers.

“A problem we often encounter is trying to keep all the patients stimulated at all times, which is very difficult with the NHS staffing shortages and budget cutbacks,” the letter said. “The televisions will be a great help to the mental wellbeing of some of our patients - enabling them to listen to music and watch old television shows, bringing back past memories.”

Branch manager Christian Davies said he was “more than happy to help” and, together with staff, donated the 20 televisions to the ward on Tuesday, 9 May.
