GP SERVICES across the Dyfi Valley will be run by a new team of three local doctors who have pledged to improve services for patients.

The three GPs – Dr Jon Shaw, Dr Louise Hyde and Dr Sara Bradbury-Willis based at Glantwymyn Health Centre – won a contract to manage Machynlleth Health Centre and will now lead a team of health professionals to run services from April.

While the three GPs have warned there will be an initial transitional period, they have said they are optimistic that patients will see improved services.

Dr Shaw, the senior GP at Glantwymyn Health Centre, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this contract. We are passionate about providing the best possible care to all patients in this community.

“We already know many of these patients - we live here, we work here and we are in it for the long haul.”

Dr Hyde said: “There will be a transition period, for staff and for patients, but we want it to be as smooth and fuss-free as possible. This is an exciting time for everyone.

“We expect to develop new and improved services at both Glantwymyn and Machynlleth health centres, as well as at the main hospital site.”
