COUNCIL chiefs have issued a warning tonight for people in the Porthmadog area to follow lockdown rules following a jump in Covid-19 cases in the town.

11 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the Porthmadog area between 10 and 16 February, leading Gwynedd Council to issue a warning.

In a social media post, the council says: “Figures show that coronavirus cases have increased in Porthmadog over the past week.

“We are urging residents to follow the rules to keep their loved ones and community safe.”

The post goes on to say: “You are far more likely to catch the virus from from you know.

“To keep your loved ones and community safe, remember to stay home. Only go out for food, local exercise, care, health or work, if you can’t work from home.

“Don’t meet with people you don’t live with.

“Wash hands, keep your distance and wear a mask.”

Gwynedd as a whole recorded nine new cases of the virus today (Wednesday).
