FUNDRAISERS who had been hoping to cycle through Meirionnydd this week dressed as soldiers from the Second World War have had to change their route because of bad weather.

Richard Brown and Jakeem Addman are cycling in heavy woollen uniforms of the time from John O’Groats to Land’s End, while also completing the Three Peaks Challenge, on foot, on the way.

They took on Snowdon on Sunday and had planned to cycle along the A470, stopping in Dolgellau overnight before carrying on to Hereford.

But the pair made a last-minute decision to cycle to Cheshire instead, to try and make up some lost ground.

Dressed as Second World War soldiers and riding replica 1940s’ bikes, they set off from John O’ Groats on 27 July and crossed into Wales on 7 August.

Richard, 26, from Manchester, and Jakeem, 23, from London, have taken on the epic fundraising challenge to raise money for Help for Heroes and mental health charity Mind.
