Madam,

In your article (Home care company to stop services in rural areas) in last week’s Cambrian News, there seemed to be a suggestion that the problems currently being experienced by Affinity Homecare were in some way due to the staffing levels of Mid Wales Home Care at the time of the handover.

I can assure you that Mid Wales Home Care has at all times been adequately managed and staffed in order to enable us to provide - over many years - a high quality, safe, and reliable service to all our clients.

Our experienced, hard-working and dedicated workforce is the reason that we have always enjoyed a good reputation with clients, health professionals and Ceredigion Council.

We very rarely had to hand back care packages due to operational reasons (staff shortages, etc) and never handed them back for purely financial reasons - even when we were sustaining losses on clients in remote areas.

At the time of the handover to Affinity (due to my retirement) we were fulfilling our commitments to a widely distributed client base and providing a high-quality service without missed calls or any other safety-related incidents.

Yours etc,

Mike Maloney, Managing Director, Mid Wales Home Care Ltd, Aberffrwd.
