A CHARITY concert will be held to raise funds for local young people and a Dwyfor RNLI team.
The High Sheriff of Gwynedd, Peter Harlech Jones, is behind the concert to raise funds for Crimebeat Gwynedd and Criccieth RNLI.
Crimebeat was started to support young people who want to make a difference in their communities.
Mr Jones said: “Since 2002 North Wales Crimebeat has awarded over 18 grants, invested almost £80,000 in youth projects, and supported over 10,000 young people with diverse range of projects including anti-bullying, road safety, internet safety and substance misuse amongst many other things.
“Crimebeat supports young people to develop projects and aims to cut local crime and keep young people out of trouble as well as to improve school attendance and behaviour.
“We are committed to helping young people with any idea that they think could have a positive impact on their area. This help can be in the way of advice and guidance to transform your idea into reality but in concrete terms, a cash grant to help make things happen!
“We all talk about the big problems in the world, but actually, it can be the smaller problems which can make life miserable in our local communities, that’s why Crimebeat is different.”
Mr Jones, who lives in Criccieth, also wanted to raise funds towards his local RNLI station to thank them for the life-saving work they do.
“I have been very fortunate to attract some significant sponsorship without which I don’t think we would be able to proceed so I would like to thank all businesses and organisations who have helped make this concert happen,” added Mr Jones.
The concert will be held on Friday, 9 December, at 7pm at the Memorial Hall in Criccieth.
The evening will feature Gwyn Hughes Jones, Gwyneth Glyn, Piantel, Alys Roberts, Cor Cofnod Caernarfon, Cor Aelwyd Chwilog and the Menai Bridge Intermediate Band.
Tickets are £20 each and are available at Newsday, Post Office Stryd Fawr or by e-mail to [email protected]
