Madam,
Well, it looks like we are at a dead end street with the demolition of St David’s Hotel (‘Demolition of eyesore hotel unlikely to happen quickly’, 2 March). I’m thinking there must be a law that overrides these delays. First there’s the safety aspect, then there is the impact on Harlech’s surrounding areas. Also, it is holding back progress on the overall look of the area.
Has anybody thought of the material that this building holds? The bricks alone could be used on any future building, bringing costs down. They alone would contribute to the price of demolition. The land itself is a very large plot, ideal for executive housing, or a golf complex with sports facilities. This plot could also be divided up for both of these needs. The demolition of this building would allow business people to see more of the potential of this magnificent site.
Yours etc
Jean Miles
Harlech.
