A TEIFI Valley country hotel was completely cut off when the River Teifi burst its banks following continuing heavy rain on Saturday night.
Owen Gale, the owner of Hammet House, awoke on Sunday to find the hotel surrounded by flood water, with deep water running down its drive.
Speaking on Sunday night, he said it was the second time in five years that hotel staff and guests had been marooned by floodwater.
Other members of staff found themselves unable to get into work on Sunday.
“We would normally expect to have more people in for Sunday lunch on the Sunday before Christmas, but obviously that was never going to happen so that has really hit us as a business,” he said.
“We have staff unable to get in and guests looking to check out. They are keeping an eye on the water levels to see if they are going to be able to.”
A spokesperson said firefighters attended 14 flooding incidents and four person-rescues over the weekend.
“Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service urge the public to adhere to the road closure, flood warning traffic signs, and weather reports that forecast heavy rainfall in your area,” she added.
