Madam,
It is important to probe Maggie Francis’ attack on “English immigrants” in her letter.
She alleges that the English are cashing in on the house price differential to buy properties they could never afford in England. But the house prices in England are little different from those in Gwynedd. Go to the suburbs of Stoke, Brum or Liverpool for the figures.
I write as an AngloScot who’s worked and lived in Wales for over 30 years. But more importantly as a Brit.
It’s not the Irish, it’s not the English, it’s not the Scots, it’s not the Welsh who have led the world for 200 years or so. It’s the Brits. And long may we continue to do so.
Go down to Barmouth quay, Maggie, and look at that wonderful bridge. Designed, financed and engineered by Brits.
Yours etc,
Graham Tottle, Maes Artro, Llanbedr.
