Mr Louvet’s letter (Letters, 7 November) illustrates how divided a society we are. We clearly agree on nothing. There is hardly a sentence in his letter that I agree with. For example, the whole of the rest of the world trades with the EU perfectly happily without being required to allow free movement of people or having to comply with directives on domestic political matters etc.

If the rest of the world can manage to trade with the EU without all these ridiculous, onerous restrictions on their sovereignty, why should we accept them?
