Madam,

How much more do the people of Gwynedd have to take? I refer to the closures of tourist information centres in Porthmadog, Caernarfon and Barmouth.

To close tourist information centres in an area that relies on tourism is foolish in the extreme.

Gwynedd Council blames the lack of central government funding, but it is Gwynedd Council which chooses which services to either reduce or stop altogether.

So far we have toilet closures, grass cutting reductions, school closures, leisure centre closures, library closures and now tourist information centre closures.

In addition, community counciIs are likely to have to be responsible in future for supply of salt for winter gritting, and rate-payers are going to have to pay separately for the collection of their brown-bag garden refuse.

It’s an absolute disgrace.

Yours etc,

O Jean Thomas, Llanfair.
