The Barmouth community has been thanked for raising hundreds of pounds during the Poppy Appeal.

Over £600 was raised locally for the British Legion, which helps pay for support for soldiers and veterans across the UK.

Barmouth Town Council noted an excellent turnout at the town’s Remembrance Day Ceremony last month and applauded everyone who had supported the centenary commemorations.

Cllr Trevor Roberts, who is a member of the British Legion, said: “We’re up on last year’s total, the whole community really came together. The staff, vicar and all present on Remembrance Sunday do a wonderful job and I’m thankful to them.”

Cllr Triggs also noted that the councillors’ row at the ceremony looked relatively sparse but only because councillors had “split allegiances” and were seated with other organisations, such as the RNLI, fire service, church or Guides.
