A FATHER of six has told how he spent the last few moments of his wife’s life holding her hand before she passed away in their Tywyn home aged just 45.

Susan Kendall, a renowned ‘pillar of the community’, died last Friday morning after a brave, five-year battle with cancer.

Her husband of 25 years, Mark Kendall, who is also a town councillor, said his wife was “well-respected and a well-loved figure in the community”.

In a heartfelt tribute, Mark said: “She was a lovely woman, a very beautiful woman.

“We met when Susan was 15 and I was 17 and we’ve been in love ever since."Susan was a dedicated local campaigner and was involved in organising events for Tywyn’s churches as well as for the town itself.

She was also a governor at Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn and Ysgol Penybryn where she served as a popular school dinner lady.

“It’s hard to explain, Susan wasn’t just from Tywyn, she was Tywyn,” Mark added.

“Everyone on the High Street would recognise her; she’d be up and down as many as 20 or 30 times a day with the children.

“She always had a smile on her face and a few minutes to chat with anyone.”

Hundreds of people, from both Tywyn and further afield, have taken to social media to express their sadness.
