Madam,

Ian MacIntyre says Labour’s Brexit plan, staying in the customs union, saves us from the downsides of Brexit.

However, staying in the customs union requires us to accept free movement and, although I consider the current, semi-fascist government is destroying this country (consider its humbug over the Windrush scandal), Ian MacIntyre’s claim makes me feel like Alice, as she disappeared down the hole.

President Donald Tusk has said there can be “No Single Market a la carte”, we cannot pick and choose our freedoms, in particular free movement of labour, the Trojan horse of neoliberalism.

If Labour thinks it can paint that red line green, then I fear it is up a creek without a plan, just like Theresa May.

In fact we all are, in or out of Europe, for meaningful immigration control will never happen, and even now foreign workers building wind turbines in the North Sea are not subject to our minimum wage.

In or out, our employment agency offices will be a sea of foreign faces fighting for nothing but minimum wage work.

Yours etc, Roger Louvet, Llanfrothen.
