I agree with Roger Louvet (Letters) regarding TV licences with old folk losing the privilege if they are wealthy, but I am a great believer in fair play. If a system says that over-75s should have a free licence, so be it.

It applies on public transport for over-60s regardless of wealth or indeed whether one owns a car and still use public transport - it saves using the car and taking up parking spaces for younger able people.

Would Roger deny us that? I think not - the fewer cars on the road the better.
