LLANFROTHEN residents are to see improved bus services in their area following the axing of vital bus service links last month.
Express Motors cancelled six of their daily services from the village to Porthmadog via Penrhyndeudraeth during October after the Welsh Government cut their funding.
The services on the 98 came to an end on 1 September and an on-call taxi service was put in place that runs once a day, from Llanfrothen via Penrhyndeudraeth to Porthmadog and back.
Villagers were left outraged by the decision to scrap the bus services which resulted in a public meeting being held to voice their disgust.
However, Gwynedd Council have announced this week that Express Motors will provide additional daily routes to serve Llanfrothen Monday to Saturday starting on 2 November.
Cllr Dafydd Meurig, Gwynedd Council member with responsibility for transport said: “I am delighted that, thanks to the hard work of council officers and the willingness of residents and local member, Cllr Gareth Thomas to work together to find a resolution, we have been able to deliver an improved service for the Llanfrothen area."
