ABERYSTWYTH Basketball Club has won a national award for its inclusiveness.
The club, which has around 150 members, has scooped the insport club of the month award with Disability Sport Wales hailing the club for the way it gets all people from the community involved.
The award comes shortly after the club, which was founded 25 years ago, was awarded an insport silver award.
The club holds 11 sessions weekly for different age groups and ability levels and encourages everyone to take part.
Helen Pearce, the club secretary, said: “We already had many of the insport policies and procedures in place prior to starting the process, so we quickly achieved the ribbon and bronze awards.
“For our club it was about gaining recognition for the work already being done and being able to gain the recognised accreditation. Continuing our journey towards the silver award now enables us to ensure we continue to develop and eventually achieve the gold accreditation.
“The insport process has given us the opportunity to take a fresh look at what we are doing and what we want to achieve in the future to maintain and improve our inclusive approach.
“As a result of this we are looking at ways we can improve, such as our communication with members through a new welcome pack, social media content and a new website section."
