Madam,
Jennifer Marland expresses her concern about the health of students as they face the gauntlet of vehicle pollution at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Pwllheli.
She diplomatically censured the highways department for monitoring the traffic when the college was closed, a prime example of ‘lies, damn lies, and statistics’.
However, the indifference to the health of the students is further compounded by the loss of the hockey pitch, where youthful lungs might be strengthened by sport to combat vehicular pollution, and also endemic obesity.
As a nation we are being subject to an unprecedented onslaught against our community assets, for purely ideological reasons.
The playing fields of Eton are safe from austerity, but for state schools it is open season.
Greta Thunberg has asked that we adults support their global action in September, and I think that it is now time to be counted.
Yours sincerely, Roger Louvet, Porthmadog.
